He received his training from painters and architects in his native city, including his father by profession architect.
197-1981 Travels through Mexico focused in the popular architecture, art, handicraft, and Colonial period and Pre-Columbian civilizations.
During the 80s and 90s traveled extensively in Europe, studying its art history, architecture and culture.
Since 1997 he keeps studios both in New York City and Guadalajara, Mexico.
In 1980 met architect Luis Barragán (Pritzker Prize), and in 1986 the painter and sculptor Juan Soriano, with whom establishes friendship. They like their parents and his mentor architect Ignacio Díaz-Morales, have been inspiration in their life and artistic activity
His work can be recognized for its brightly-colored and synthesized compositions, abstract and figurative, characterized for their celebration and praise of life. He is located in a contemporary global/local culture, incorporating the expressions of both native and distant civilizations, past and present, with a deep connection to the roots of millenarian societies.
Since young, Mr. Rodal has approached the execution of his art as his life’s calling, which has driven him to use the “corpus” of his work as a way of expressing his personal visions, that come as a result of observation, thought, intuition, the subconscious, and imagination. One of his motivations has been to push the structure and systems of the visual arts language to their very limits, in harmony with the transfiguration of formal elements.
He had lived in Guadalajara Jalisco, Ciudad de Mexico, Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Comala, Colima, New York City and Paris.

"Art is the fascinating, transforming development of a double triad composed of conceptual-poetic-constructive elements, on one side, and spirit-mind-body elements on the other side. From their own realm, elements from these two triads pass through matter, and coalesce finally into a work bestowed with qualities that endow it with permanent validity for all humankind."
Proposal number two of definition of art: “The conceptual and poetic expression of the human mind, body and spirit through material media.”
